The Komödienspiele theatre festival in the castle (Ensemble Porcia) has been a highlight of the Carinthian cultural summer for over 50 years, as has the international choral singing competition in the arcaded courtyard. The Folk Culture Museum, also housed in the castle, has a walkable aerial photograph of Carinthia.
In winter Spittal’s local mountain, the Goldeck, is an attraction with its wide pistes and the longest black valley run in the Alps.
In summer hikers feel at home on the Goldeck, and the “Drautalperle” water and sauna park offers swimming fun for all the family.
